Alter Ego Launches the "25 For 25" Campaign!

The 2011 season will mark Alter Ego’s 25th Anniversary in the winter guard activity. This phenomenal milestone looks to be Alter Ego’s best competitive season to date!

In preparation, we’re asking all alumni, friends, fans, and family to donate $1 for each year of the guard’s existence, for a total contribution of $25, to show your support as we head into our Silver Anniversary Season.

While the performers shoulder a significant amount of the organization's financial needs through tuition, a large percentage of our operating expenses must be covered through private donations from supporters just like you!

In recognition, and as a "thank you" for your contribution, your name will be posted on our site as a Silver Anniversary Sponsor!

11th Place – 85.60 - Alter Ego (West New York, NJ)
Staged on a sepia tinted moonscape and costumed in 1940’s elegance, “Tonight Will Be A Memory, Too” is certainly one to remember. The classy façade belies the strength of these performers as they filled the arena with their joy. Spinning ever-changing sets of flags colored as earth and sky, the complex choreography carries you to a gorgeous ripple then on to a wall of shining saber tosses and finally pulls the ensemble into an extraordinary huckleberry flag feature. Their sensitivity and strong performance qualities certainly helped the audience to make memories of enjoying this program.

First year member Guillaume Eek was recently featured in an article on wgi.org!

Guillaume Eek is a first-year Alter Ego member who makes the 4 to 6 hour commute the rehearsals each weekend. Currently residing in Herndon, VA, his greatest challenge is balancing his weekend rehearsal schedule with his full-time job, teaching color guards in his area, and staying up to date with his college course work. All of this is worth the struggle to Eek, who has been aching to march a World Class program for many years. With Alter Ego’s recent promotion to World Class, Eek jumped at the opportunity and has never looked back.

“The most valuable thing I've learned is that there is so much more to becoming a great performer aside from the spinning and dancing,” Eek explained. “It is a complete commitment to your team and yourself.” The commute has also taught Eek some significant lessons. “I have learned that the distance doesn't feel as long when you love what you're doing, where you're going, and who you will be with.”

Four year vet Lindsay Beaumont was recently featured in an article on wgi.org!

Lindsay Beaumont has been a member of Alter Ego for four seasons, first joining the ensemble when she was 12 years old. She fell in love with the performance style of Alter Ego while watching a local show and her mother made arrangements for her to audition the following season.

Despite her young age, she was instantly and warmly welcomed into the well-established organization. The supportive staff and inspirational members have made Beaumont feel at home. “The staff have always been great motivators, and continue to educate and lead us in the right direction year after year,” Beaumont explained. “The people I spin with, our staff, and all the memories I’ve made are the reasons I keep going back.”
